Amazing!!!No. 1 S6i – A $124 Great Clone of Samsung Galaxy S6

Love the Samsung Galaxy S6 but don’t want to spend those $700 on a brand new smartphone? Don’t worry, there’s more than enough clones out there. Today we are taking a look at one made by our favorite clone maker – No.1.

This is the No.1 S6i, a device that will look just like Samsung’s new flagship device. It’s also only $124! The real question is whether it is worth that cash or not. Let’s see.

No.1 S6i specs

  • Android 5.0 Lollipop
  • 5-inch 720p IPS display
  • 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582
  • 1 GB of RAM
  • 16 GB of internal storage
  • 16 MP rear-facing camera
  • 5 MP front-facing camera
  • 2800 mAh battery
  • 143.4×70.5×6.8 mm

Design and build quality

No.1 totally nailed it when it comes to the design. I mean this thing looks and feels just like a Samsung Galaxy S6. Even the measurements are exactly the same, and the aluminum chassis feels as good as with the original. Furthermore, both the front and back are made of glass. Hell, even the buttons feel solid!
The only main difference you will notice is, of course, the logo. There is no Samsung branding here. There is a big “No.1″ in the back and no carrier or manufacturer branding in the front.
Seriously, this device is crazy good. Samsung took so many years to finally make a worthy device, yet here comes No.1 and makes an identical one in a heart beat. This thing seems to have no compromises, at least in terns of design and build quality.

Display

Now we will start getting into the things that will more clearly set a border between the No.1 S6i and the Samsung Galaxy S6. I mean, this is a $119 phone, after all, and you will notice that when you first turn on the display.
It’s obvious this is no Galaxy S6 screen. The colors start washing out in deeper viewing angles and it lacks the colors AMOLED displays are so known for. Not to mention, the No.1 S6i only has a 720p screen resolution.

This is not all bad news, though. We will be the first to say that this is actually a very worthy screen for a phone with said price tag. It’s a damn good panel, actually!

Performance & software

We didn’t talk much about the hardware at first, in the video, and that is because we wanted to show you how the phone runs without putting any previous expectations on your mind. This phone is actually not slow, it runs well and apps open relatively fast. The S6i is running a MediaTek MTK6582.
Of course, this won’t be powering hard-core games like a boss either. It’s no Snapdragon super beast, but it will keep your workflow and casual fun running smoothly.

The device is running Android 5.0, which is definitely great. We are just not sure how often you will get updates, but you may not be worrying much about that.

Memory

OK, now we will get to the parts that we really don’t like. No.1 imitated Samsung’s design amazingly well, which means this phone has no expandable storage. That’s fine if they had options with a good amount of internal storage, but they only offer the one 16 GB iteration at $124.
To make matters worse, they have had to skimp out on the RAM by limiting it to 1 GB. Not good news, but I guess beggars can’t be choosers, right? The thing is, this is the tech industry and geeks are pretty picky. This kind of limitation is simply not cool.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy S6 entered the market beating every camera out there. Only the big guys like the iPhone 6 can get close to competing with it, so don’t expect the No.1 S6i to match that quality.
With that said, I would like to point out this camera is not bad at all. They have done a decent job at getting images that are actually crisp and usable. These clones are known for having pretty horrible cameras, but this one is something I could definitely work with.

Battery life

Now, we are not sure about this one yet. We will be testing the device more and seeing how well that battery performs. We are hoping it can at least give us a full day of battery life, but we are almost sure it will at least outperform the Galaxy S6.
For starters, the No.1 S6i 2800 mAh battery has a bit more juice than the 2550 mAh battery you will find on the Galaxy phone. Then factor in the fact that No.1’s device doesn’t have to push all those pixels and the specs are less power-hungry.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is very infamous for its bad battery life, and this may be the one section where No.1 actually beats the $700 phone.

Wrapping up

We will continue to test the No.1 S6i and a review should come in due time. Do remember this was just a brief unboxing and first impressions. We will be comparing this bad boy to the original Samsung Galaxy S6, so it’s all about to get real interesting around here!
What do you guys say, though? This is a gorgeous phone. And though it lacks a lot of things its original counterpart touts, it could be an awesome $124 phone for the casual user who wants a good-looking phone.
